Mechelen(The Brussels morning newspaper): Police encountered several incidents of impaired and unlawful driving including a minor driving without a license, a drunk cyclist and multiple drivers under the influence of drugs. Licenses were revoked and fines issued.
The police saw some things happening. They stopped a car with a British license plate because it was driving fast between cars. The driver was only 17 years old and in the UK you can drive at that age but not in Belgium. The young guy got a fine and had to leave his car. On another road a cyclist was riding where bikes aren’t allowe, and he had a lot of alcohol in his system. He’ll have to go to court for that.

During a police operation several drivers were found under the influence of drugs. One tested positive for cocaine but denied using it. Because of the positive test his driver’s license was taken away. This man had also tested positive for cocaine in May and failed a breath test for alcohol in April according to Wauters. Another driver admitted to smoking six joints a week and tested positive for cannabis. His license was also revoked and he handed over a small amount of cannabis which he paid a fine for immediately.That person really went too far during the police check. He had way too much alcohol in his system and got really angry with the inspectors. He even hit the police vehicle.It’s concerning that he had his partner and three young kids in the car with him. His license got taken away for 15 days because of his behavior. It’s important to always stay safe and responsible on the road.

The police caught a lady driving with an expired learner’s license. This means she wasn’t allowed to drive because her temporary permit had run out making her driving illegal. Learner’s licenses are for new drivers to practice under certain rules and time limits and once it’s expired it’s not valid anymore for driving. The police caught someone driving with a learner’s permit on a weekend night. Learner’s permits usually have rules against driving at certain times especially on weekends to keep everyone safe as new drivers learn. This driver broke those rules which is against the law. Both people got in trouble for what they did wrong. It is important to follow the rules of learner’s permits.
