3 injured in head-on crash on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas

Sint-Niklaas (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – 3 people were seriously injured in a head-on crash on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas near McDonald’s. Police closed the road as emergency crews treated victims and investigated the cause.

Asa VRT News reported, 3 people suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas, close to the McDonald’s restaurant. A car travelling toward Beveren was involved in a collision, causing the smaller vehicle to overturn and land on its side.

What caused the head-on crash on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas?

Emergency responders arrived quickly and administered medical treatment to the victims prior to hospitalising them. The police shut the road off to determine what caused the accident. Investigators have looked into potential causes such as distraction of the driver, mechanical failure, or a sudden turn, but no cause has been officially identified.

By the time emergency responders made it to the scene of the crash, the 3 occupants of the car that had overturned were out of the wrecked automobile. They were all badly injured and treated promptly by paramedics before they were sent to the hospital.

Police shut down Heidebaan in both directions after the accident. Traffic police and police officers kept the road clear while investigators thoroughly examined the scene. The road was closed until the wrecked vehicles were towed away and road debris cleared.

In June 2023, a serious head-on crash took place on Heidebaan in Sint-Niklaas, near the McDonald’s restaurant. A sports car went out of control and moved into the lane of oncoming traffic. It hit another vehicle carrying an older couple. All 3 people were injured and taken to the hospital. The fire service was called to clear the road and make the area safe for traffic.
