As HBVL News reported, a 21-year-old motorcyclist from Dilsen-Stokkem was seriously injured in a life-threatening accident on Friday afternoon, Oct 10, 2025, on the E314 motorway near Genk-Oost. What caused the E314 crash near Genk?

The crash caused major disruption on the E314. The motorway towards Lummen was completely closed between Genk-Oost and Genk-Centrum because the entire carriageway was blocked by the accident. Traffic was heavily affected, and authorities asked drivers to follow diversion signs and remain patient.

The motorway reopened at approximately 5 p.m., but delays continued. A half-hour traffic jam persisted all the way back to Maasmechelen. Authorities warned that travel times would remain longer than usual while clean-up and emergency operations continued and urged drivers to plan accordingly.

Similar accidents have occurred on the E314 motorway in the past. On September 24, 2025, a motorcyclist died after colliding with a truck near Aarschot. On August 29, 2025, a ghost driver was seen driving recklessly near Genk, narrowly avoiding multiple vehicles.
