18-Year-Old drifter caught without license on Torhout roundabout

Torhout (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Last night, Dec 7, 2025,  in Torhout, police stopped an 18-year-old from Oostkamp drifting at Roselaarseweg roundabout with 3 passengers, including a 14-year-old girl; the car was seized, driver faces court.

As VRT News reported, Last night, Dec 7, 2025, Torhout police stopped a young man who was drifting at the Roselaarseweg roundabout near Vredelaan. Officers from the Kouter zone saw the car slide around the roundabout twice. The driver, an 18-year-old from Oostkamp, did not have a driver’s license. He had 3 passengers in the car, including a 14-year-old girl. 

What makes Torhout’s Roselaarseweg roundabout so risky for drivers?

The public prosecutor’s office ordered the car to be seized immediately. Authorities said the young driver will almost certainly appear in court. Police warned that letting unlicensed or underage drivers use a car is very dangerous.

A similar accident happened at the Roselaarseweg roundabout on November 15, 2025. A 41-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, crashed into the car in front of him. The collision damaged the Christmas lights in the area. Police said these incidents show why drivers must always follow safety rules.
