Zaventem (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Workers at Incovo and Interza in Vilvoorde and Zaventem are striking due to work pressure and bullying. This is causing waste collection issues in Mechelen, Diegem, Zemst, Nossegem, and Steenokkerzeel. Trade unions support the strike.

A strike has started at Incovo in Vilvoorde and Interza in Zaventem. This has caused problems with waste collection in Mechelen, Diegem, Zemst, Nossegem, and Steenokkerzeel. Most workers have stopped working, but some are still on the job. The strike has support from trade unions.

A meeting is taking place to discuss the workers’ concerns with union leaders and company managers. Officials mentioned that Incovo and Interza are trying to lessen the impact on waste collection and will give updates soon about when services will be back to normal.

Will Zaventem’s waste collection face more strike delays?

The strike is happening because workers at Incovo are unhappy. They feel more pressure at work and say there is bullying. Unions are asking for a meeting with the management to solve these problems.

According to the officials, a national strike is also planned for February 13, 2025, which might cause more issues for public services like waste collection. They mentioned that this strike aims to show that there are still problems in public services.

Incovo and Interza are 2waste management companies in Belgium. Incovo collects waste in Vilvoorde, Mechelen, Zest, Londerzeel, and Meise. Interza is in charge of waste collection in Zaventem, Wezembeek-Oppem, Steenokkerzeel, Kraainem, and Kampenhout. Both companies focus on providing good waste services. They collect household waste, offer recycling, and manage recycling parks.

According to the authorities, Incovo and Interza sometimes have problems that affect waste collection. In January 2025, heavy snow made it hard to collect waste because the roads were slippery.

There is also a strike at both companies that has caused delays in many areas. They mentioned that residents should check official updates from Incovo and Interza about collection times and any delays.
