Ypres (Brussels Morning Newspaper): Pieterjan Dens, lawyer for the woman involved in the fatal A19 crash in Ypres, claims bias from the investigating judge. The accident killed a 63-year-old man and injured his family. The woman faces manslaughter charges, citing a psychosis during the incident.

Pieterjan Dens, the lawyer for the woman involved in the fatal crash on the A19 in Ypres earlier this month, claims that the investigating judge is biased, although he hasn’t explained why. The judge now has two days to respond to this claim, and if he doesn’t, Dens plans to bring the matter to the court of appeal, which must decide within eight days. The accident occurred two weeks ago when a woman from Menen drove the wrong way on the A19 and collided with a car carrying a family from Wallonia, resulting in the death of a 63-year-old man and serious injuries to his wife and 13-year-old daughter.

Was the Ypres A19 crash caused by mental health issues or impairment?

The woman who caused the accident has been arrested for manslaughter. Her lawyer says this is not fair because she was having a psychosis and couldn’t tell what was real at the time. He also mentions that her first interrogation report makes no sense. The lawyer says she now realizes what she did and is struggling to deal with it. He wants her to be sent to a psychiatric hospital for help.

It has been said that it was found out that the day before the crash, she had been in front of a police judge for a previous drunk driving case. This raises questions about her choices and how people view her actions. The test results and her past issues will be important in the legal case about this event.
