Flanders (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Police raided 8 homes in West Flanders and 1 in Málaga, Spain, seizing drugs, €18,000, and arresting 10 Belgians. The main figure is Thomas Detavernier (VLAS). 2 leaders were extradited from Spain.

As VRT News reported, police carried out 8 house searches in West Flanders. The searches took place in Kuurne, Wielsbeke, Gullegem, Roeselare, and Koolskamp. At the same time, police also raided a location in Málaga, Spain.

They found a lot of drugs and cash. The group was selling both cannabis and cocaine. Police say the group was well-organised. Thomas Detavernier from the VLAS police zone says this is a big hit to drug crime in the area. In the Belgian homes, police found more proof that the group had been working for a long time.

How did VLAS uncover a drug ring linking Belgium and Spain?

In Málaga, Spain, police found a working cannabis plantation. It had professional equipment for growing plants and a large amount of cash. During the same raid, police arrested 2 main leaders of the drug group. These men were sent back to Belgium. They are now with the court and will face the investigating judge.

Police found large amounts of drugs in West Flanders and Spain. At different places, they found 8 kilograms of cannabis, 400 grams of hashish, and 500 grams of cocaine. Police also found €18,000 in cash and a handgun.

10 people were arrested during the police operation. All of them are from Belgium. 3 men and 1 woman were kept in jail after speaking to the judge. Another woman got an ankle monitor so police can watch where she goes. The other people were let out on bail but are still being checked.

Police believe the group is part of a bigger drug ring. Thomas Detavernier from the VLAS police zone said the case is still open. He said police will keep looking to find out how the group worked and what each person did. The police want to know how big the group is and how it was set up.
