Vilvoorde (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): The new ViTeS thrift shop on Mechelsesteenweg has opened, built by De Kringwinkel. It has eco-friendly features. Spokesperson Ingrid De Roo announced the opening on Friday 20th September at 3 p.m.

The new ViTeS thrift shop is now open at the same location on Mechelsesteenweg, but it looks completely different. They tore down the old building to build a new one because they needed a modern space. Ingrid De Roo, the spokesperson, said they decided to rebuild to have better facilities that can meet the community’s needs and make operations run more smoothly.

What makes the new ViTeS thrift shop in Vilvoorde stand out?

It has been said that the new ViTeS thrift shop is very different from the old one in both looks and how it works. They completely tore down the old building and built a brand-new, modern facility. This change has made the shop almost unrecognizable, and it’s designed to make shopping better for visitors and meet today’s standards.

De Kringwinkel is focusing on being eco-friendly with its new building, which has many green features. The roof has 1,400 solar panels, and 300 of those were reused from the old setup. This shows how committed the organization is to reducing waste and being responsible for the environment. The building uses heat pumps to provide heating and cooling, which helps save energy and reduces the need for regular energy sources. It also has smart water management systems, like underground tanks that help collect and reuse water. Together, these features make the building more environmentally friendly and support De Kringwinkel’s overall goals for sustainability.

According to resources, the new store is great for both the environment and customers. It can welcome more shoppers and has more items to choose from. There will also be a larger parking lot, nicer furniture, and a covered area for donations, which should bring in more donors.  The store will create jobs for over 160 people as it is a social project. The official opening is on 20th September Friday at 3 p.m.
