Vilvoorde Fire Brigade will celebrate 150 years with ‘Uitbrander’ beer

Vilvoorde (Brussels Morning Newspaper): In 2025, the Royal Fire Brigade Brotherhood of Vilvoorde will celebrate 150 years of service. Captain Andy Moons announced a special blond beer, “Uitbrander,” with Father Karel Stautemas and master brewer CĂ©dric Lebbe, to honor this milestone.

In 2025, the Royal Fire Brigade Brotherhood of Vilvoorde will celebrate 150 years of serving the community. This anniversary highlights their important role in keeping residents safe. Vilvoorde firefighters are organizing events throughout the year to celebrate a special occasion. These activities will include exhibitions and ceremonies that highlight the history of firefighting and honor the dedication of their members over the years.

What special beer will celebrate the Royal Fire Brigade’s 150th anniversary?

A special blond beer will be launched for the anniversary celebrations of the Royal Fire Brigade Brotherhood of Vilvoorde. It has been said that this beer represents the Brotherhood’s creativity and teamwork and aims to engage the community. It is expected to be a reminder of this year. 

Captain Andy Moons, vice-chairman of the Royal Fire Brigade Association, said they wanted to make their anniversary special by making their beer. With help from Father Karel Stautemas and master brewer CĂ©dric Lebbe from Grimbergen Abbey Brewery, they made a blond beer called “Uitbrander,” which has 7.5 percent alcohol. This beer honors the fire brigade and the city of Vilvoorde, featuring a horse on the label that represents the local nickname for the people: the Pjeirefretters.
