Veurne crash involving 5 occupants and 2 on hood of the car

Veurne (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A 20-year-old driver from Alveringem crashed into a wooden beam after a party at Furnevent in Veurne. A 21-year-old passenger was seriously injured. Police are investigating speed, attention, and unsafe behaviour.

The Westhoek Fire Department was called to the Furnevent party venue, province of West Flanders, BelgiumBelgium, in the early hours of Sunday, April 20, 2025, around 4:30 a.m. The popular Bunnybal gala party was about to end when a 20-year-old driver from Alveringem, along with 4 passengers, left the venue. 

As they were driving, the car crashed into a wooden beam supported by posts, which had been installed to block a cycle path. 2 other individuals were riding on the hood of the car. The driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision with the wooden construction.

Why did a 21-year-old Alveringem man get injured in a party crash?

When the car crashed, a 21-year-old man from Alveringem standing on the roof of the car, was thrown off and struck the wooden pillars. He was injured and hospitalised. Police are investigating the crash. They want to know why the people were standing on the hood and if alcohol was involved. 

According to the Police, the 20-year-old driver from Alveringem wasn’t drunk or on drugs when the crash happened. Even though he wasn’t, his driver’s license was taken away for 15 days. The car was badly damaged because it hit the wooden beam that was blocking the bike path. A tow truck had to take the car away because it couldn’t be driven anymore.
