Turnhout fight: 22-year-old Afghan man arrested due to knife attack

Turnhout (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): On 27th September Friday at 6:30 PM, two 22-year-old Afghan men fought in a Turnhout supermarket. One used a knife, injuring the other. The attacker was arrested later that evening.

On 27th September Friday evening around 6:30 PM, there was a fight between two 22-year-old Afghan men in a supermarket on Merodelei in Turnhout. Kristof Aerts, a spokesperson for the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office, said the two knew each other before this happened. While they were inside the supermarket, they started arguing, which turned into a bigger fight. 

What led to the knife attack between two Afghan men in Turnhout?

During the fight between the two Afghan men in the supermarket on Merodelei in Turnhout, things got violent when one of them took out a knife. In the middle of the argument, the attacker used the knife on the other man, causing injuries. The victim got cuts on his hand. After the knife attack, the suspect quickly ran away to avoid being caught. However, the authorities acted fast and were able to identify him shortly after the incident. The 22-year-old Afghan man was found and arrested later that evening at an asylum center in Arendonk, a nearby town.

The Antwerp public prosecutor’s office confirmed that the suspect was arrested without any problems. After his arrest, he was set to appear before the investigating judge the next day. It has been said that this court appearance is important for deciding what charges he will face and what will happen next in the legal process. The investigation will look into why the attack happened, how serious the victim’s injuries are, and if the suspect has any past criminal history.
