On 21st October around 6 a.m., a truck crashed into a pole on Mechelsesteenweg in Antwerp. This pole is essential for the city’s tram system because it holds up the wires that power the trams. Frederik Wittock from De Lijn said the pole and the tram cable were badly damaged. It looks like they will need to replace both completely

How will the Truck crash affect Tram 7 in Antwerp?

After the accident, the repair teams have been called in, but the repairs will require several hours to complete. Wittock said the repairs could last until the afternoon. This will affect tram services in the area since the damaged line is important for powering the trams. Travelers in Antwerp may experience delays or need to use other routes until the repairs are finished.

Due to the truck collision on Mechelsesteenweg, tram line 7 in Antwerp is facing major problems. Trams cannot run between the Harmonie and Nationale Bank stops because the overhead tram line and supporting pole are damaged.
