Ghent (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): Construction on the tram route between Rozemarijnbrug and Contributiestraat is complete restoring tram T4’s full service and improving connections while enhancing road conditions for all users.

For the past two years they were fixing up the tram route between Rozemarijnbrug and Contributiestraat. This construction work caused some tram routes to be closed off at different times making sure people could still get around as smoothly as possible. While they were working there De Lijn also fixed up the tram tracks and made the roads better in those areas. This helped make sure the trams run smoothly and the roads are in good shape for everyone using them like people on the trams and local drivers.

What improvements were made to tram T4’s route and service during the recent construction in Ghent?

While they were fixing the tram route, tram T4 only went between Sint-Pietersstation and the UZ. People had to switch to a shuttle bus P4 to finish their journey because of the construction work causing disruptions. During busy times tram T4 came every 10 minutes starting from 5:15 am until 11:30 pm. Now that the construction is done and the shuttle bus is gone,T4 will go back to its regular route. This will make it easier for passengers because they won’t need to change trams anymore.

They built a new road with tracks along Coupure that can fit trams and cars. They also fixed up the Theresianenstraat tram stop but it took longer because they had to protect the trees there. When they were working on the tram tracks at Beginhoflaan they accidentally damaged some tree roots. De Lin got a tree expert to check the damage and recommend better ways to work without harming the trees.
