A 28-year-old Brussels resident died on Saturday after a fall in the Pyrenees. The man’s family reports this to the Belga press agency.

The mountain accident took place in the Haute-Garonne department, where the man was on a multi-day hike with a group of friends. The twenties had years of experience in mountaineering.

When a small group wanted to climb a second mountain after a first ascent, things went wrong. That writes Het Nieuwsblad. A 28-year-old young man, the oldest of the whole group, fell a short time later from the ridge more than fifty meters and was killed instantly.

According to the mountain rescue service of the French gendarmerie, the young men were well equipped and responded in an exemplary manner, said the family from Ternat. A major rescue operation was in vain. “The family and group of friends now want to be able to say goodbye in peace and have time to process the tragic accident,” it sounds.
