Antwerp (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): Over two weekends at Tomorrowland149 people were arrested with 73 in the first weekend. Drug related arrests included 29 dealers from various countries. Additionally 59 thefts were reporter and 11 drones were confiscated for safety violations.
The police and the legal people checked what happened at Tomorrowland in De Schorre in Boom over two weekends. In the first weekend 73 people got arrested. After the second weekend the total arrests were 149 with 49 taken for legal reasons and 100 for causing trouble or being too drunk. Some of these 100 people tried to get into the festival without tickets.
What recent drug-related arrests and theft incidents occurred at Tomorrowland festival?
Many people were arrested recently for dealing drugs. Of the 29 drug dealers most are from various countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, Colombia, Ukraine, Latvia, Serbia, Sweden, Brazil, Canada, Germany, and Mexico. They will have hearings on October 30 or December 16, 2024. And 466 people caught with small amounts of drugs were given fines totaling 124,050 euros. The drugs were taken away and 880 samples were tested showing that MDMA, ketamine and cocaine were the most common.
At Tomorrowland there were 59 reports of thefts including stolen necklaces, watches and smartphones. 21 pickpockets have been arrested. Most of these thefts happened during the festival’s first weekend when a Colombian gang was active. After one gang member was caught the police tracked down the rest of the group arresting five men in an apartment in Sint-Joost-ten-Node, Brussels. They are now in jail and stolen items were recovered.
At a recent festival they said no to drones flying over the area for safety. But some people still flew drones there so the police took away eleven of them. They also checked the taxis and 36 taxis got taken because they were not following the rules like picking up people in the wrong spots. Many people got fined for parking wrong near the festival a total of 88 fines were given out. This was done to make sure everything at the festival was organized and followed the rules.
