Tienen (Brussels Morning Newspaper): In mid-November, Tienen’s Mayor Katrien Partyka announced the Godson restaurant would remain closed for another month due to ongoing security concerns after a potential armed robbery threat. The restaurant owners support this decision.

In mid-October, police warned about a possible armed robbery at the Godson restaurant in Goetsenhoven, raising safety concerns. To protect customers and staff, the mayor of Tienen, Katrien Partyka, who also leads the local police, decided to temporarily close the restaurant.

Why is Tienen’s Godson restaurant remaining closed amid ongoing security concerns?

In mid-November, Mayor Partyka announced that the Godson restaurant would remain closed for another month due to ongoing security concerns. She stated that the police had provided a notice indicating that the danger had not decreased, and the risk to customers and staff was still significant. This decision highlights the city’s commitment to ensuring public safety and responding to credible threats.

The mayor has told the restaurant owners about the decision to keep it closed, and they agree with it. They had a chance to share their opinions but did not object to the extension. The mayor and the public prosecutor’s office won’t give more details about the threat to protect the investigation.
