Stabbing incident in Kortrijk: Butterfly knife brawl unfolds

Kortrijk (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): Two men argued in an apartment near Kortrijk station leading to one being stabbed in the buttock. The police intervened discovering the attacker used a prohibited butterfly knife. Both men face charges for assault and illegal weapon possession.

On 4th August sunday night at 8 p.m. there was a big argument between two guys in an apartment near Kortrijk station on Spoorweglaan. The fight got more intense and it caught the neighbors’ attention. They got worried and called the police. The police rushed to the apartment to make sure everyone was safe. When the police got there they checked out the situation and stepped in to calm things down and prevent any fights.

What happened in Kortrik’s butterfly knife brawl?

When the cops showed up they found out that one of the guys a 32-year-old man had been stabbed in the buttock. The injury wasn’t too bad but he needed medical help. They rushed him to the hospital where he got treated. Once the doctors checked him out and saw he was okay they let him leave the hospital. After he left the hospital the man was put in handcuffs and taken by the police. This means they are holding him to ask more questions as they continue to look into what happened during the argument. The police are trying to figure out everything that went down and the part each person played in the situation.

These two guys started fighting and the 37-year-old guy says he only took out the knife to defend himself. But here’s the thing the knife he used was a butterfly knife,which is not allowed it’s a prohibited weapon. The police finding that butterfly knife is a big deal because having and using that kind of weapon is against the law.It has been said that using a prohibited weapon in a fight raises serious legal problems that the authorities will have to look into. They’ll have to figure out if the self-defense claim is valid and what having that weapon means for the ongoing investigation.

Both those guys are going to see the judge for getting charged with assault battery and having illegal weapons. The 32-year-old guy who got stabbed and the 37-year-old who used the butterfly knife will have to explain what they did during the fight. So these guys are in trouble for fighting and one of them had that forbidden butterfly knife. The judge will look at everything to decide what punishment they should get for what they did.
