Sint-Niklaas (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Last night in Driegaaienstraat, Sint-Niklaas, a young scooter rider sped away from police, crashed into a parked car, suffered serious head injuries and broken bones, and was rushed to the hospital.

As VRT News reported, last night, May 28, 2025, around 10 PM, people in Driegaaienstraat, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, called the police because some young people were causing trouble with their scooters. The scooters were very loud, which bothered the neighbours. The police went to the area to check things out and make sure everyone was safe. They wanted to stop the scooter riders.

Did a dangerous scooter chase in Driegaaienstraat end in a serious crash?

When the police arrived, one of the young scooter riders took off at high speed, trying to get away. This caused the police to chase after them. The rider drove fast through the streets of Driegaaienstraat, going at dangerous speeds in an attempt to escape. The police followed closely, wanting to bring the situation under control.

While speeding down Driegaaienstraat, the young man lost control of the scooter. Officials mentioned that possibly because he was going too fast or couldn’t steer well, he crashed into the back of a parked car. The rider got injured badly. He had a serious head injury that caused a lot of bleeding. He also broke several bones.

An ambulance and a special medical team came quickly. The medical team gave the young man immediate care and stabilised him before taking him to the hospital. Because the crash was so bad, the scooter couldn’t be fixed and was taken away. The parked car was also badly damaged.
