What’s next for Chef Thomas Locus after Julie closes in 2025?
After Brasserie Julie closes, the location won’t be empty for long. Chef Thomas Locus is planning a new concept, aiming to launch it by the spring of 2026. Following the closure, he’ll use the time to explore different ideas. Potential concepts include a bed and breakfast, a spaghetti restaurant, or a pizzeria.
Chef Thomas Locus started with Bistro Margaux, which earned a Michelin star, making it one of the best restaurants in Belgium. In 2017, Julie also got a Michelin star. The next year, Gault&Millau called Brasserie Julie the ‘Brasserie of the Year’ in 2018. This award was for the food and the whole dining experience.
Besides his restaurants, Thomas Locus has other projects. He created Louis1924, a bed and breakfast named after his grandfather. He also started Vincoeur, a wine business. Even with all the awards, Locus stays focused. He says he’s thankful for the recognition, but he doesn’t cook for the stars. He loves food, hospitality, and making great experiences for people.
