Bystanders alerted the train driver, preventing a disaster. The main suspect, arrested on October 29, was found to be in the country illegally and charged with attempted manslaughter.

Last week, a fight broke out at a metro station, and videos quickly spread on social media. It started when one man confronted another, and punches were thrown. The fight got worse, and both men fell onto the metro tracks. Nearby bystanders acted fast and warned the train driver about the train. Due to their quick actions, the driver was able to stop the metro just in time, avoiding a serious accident.

Both men involved in the fight at the metro station survived and left before the police arrived. However, after investigating and reviewing video footage, the police were able to identify and locate the main suspect.

The federal police confirmed the facts and shared surveillance images, according to a spokesperson for the Brussels-West police zone. On October 29, a patrol responsible for public transport safety spotted a man matching the suspect’s description near the Ribaucourt metro station. He was quickly arrested and taken for questioning, revealing that he was in the country illegally. At the request of the public prosecutor, he was brought before a judge, who decided to keep him in custody on charges of attempted manslaughter.
