Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – In a massive air assault, Ukrainian military officials reported that Vladimir Putin’s forces have fired more than 150 lethal glide bombs at Ukraine within the last day.

On Saturday, at least 153 KAB winged explosives, weighing as much as 1,500 kilograms and dubbed the “building destroyer,” were released on Ukrainian towns and cities, as reported by Ukraine’s general staff.

The report stated that a large-scale air assault included almost 100 airstrikes and missile attacks in areas such as Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia.

An Iranian-made Shahed drone struck a military hospital in Kharkiv, prompting Kyiv to label the incident as a war crime. The attack resulted in at least two deaths and 25 injuries.

The Russian army purposefully shelled a Ukrainian medical facility, committing war crimes with no statute of limitations. According to Ukraine’s general staff, recent assessments from government and military analysts indicate that Moscow is gearing up for a new offensive along the 621-mile frontline covering Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia.

“They are prolonging the negotiations and attempting to entrap the US in endless, meaningless debates over fabricated ‘conditions’ to gain time and pursue additional territory,”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked.

Why did Russia accuse Ukraine of attacking energy sites?

Russian military operations against Ukraine over the past two months have intensified, focusing on targeting civilian infrastructure and preparations for new offensives. On Saturday, Russia’s defense ministry accused Ukraine of assaulting Russian energy facilities within the last 24 hours, despite an agreement to refrain from targeting each other’s energy infrastructure.

The ministry reported that Ukraine repeatedly struck power grids in the Belgorod region, resulting in approximately 9,000 residents losing power. Reuters was unable to immediately verify this account. Throughout the week, both sides have alleged new violations as the ground conflict persists.

Is Russia preparing for a new military offensive?

Ukrainian government and military analysts told The Associated Press that Russian forces are gearing up for a new military offensive in the upcoming weeks. This move aims to intensify pressure on Ukraine and bolster the Kremlin’s stance in ceasefire negotiations.
