A first phase of the renovation of the facade of the royal palace in Brussels has been completed. This is reported by the Belgian Buildings Agency in a press release.

The scaffolding used for the first phase of the works will now be moved to the right side of the facade to be used again during the restoration.

The renovation campaign of the royal palace in the heart of Brussels, which started in March 2023, is taking place in several phases. First all facades, the stone balustrades and stairs, the garden walls, the fences and gates are tackled. The cleaning and restoration of the garden wall at Troonplein will start later.

The exterior carpentry of the palace is also being restored, in order to improve the insulation of the palace. In total, more than 700 windows and 2,800 m² of joinery must be taken care of.

The works will take about a year and a half and will cost around 6 million euros.
