Ghent (The Brussels Morning Newspapaer): Arcadis will inspect the B401 fly-over in Ledeberg next week as part of a routine check. The Roads and Traffic Agency aims to ensure the bridge’s safety by removing loose concrete and closing some lanes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Friday.

Arcadis will be checking the fly-over (B401) in Ledeberg next week. It’s a routine inspection done every three years. The Roads and Traffic Agency is organizing this check to make sure the bridge stays safe and strong. Tess Bonte from the Agency will thoroughly check the fly-over. They will look for any signs of damage or wear that could affect how safe and strong the bridge is.

What safety measures are being taken for the B401 fly-over?

The workers are checking the bridge sections of the fly-over very carefully to make sure they are safe. They are specifically looking for loose concrete. If they find any loose pieces they are removing them cautiously to prevent them from falling onto the road below. To make sure the workers can do their job safely some lanes on the fly-over will be closed for a bit. This closure helps workers check and fix the bridge without anything falling onto the road which could be dangerous for drivers. Closing the lanes is a precaution to keep everyone safe while the work is being done.

The bridge maintenance work will continue until Friday and it will happen between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. every day. This timing is chosen to avoid the busiest traffic hours when there are many cars on the road. By scheduling the work during these off-peak hours disruptions to traffic flow will be minimized ensuring a smoother experience for drivers using the fly-over. The road B401 which is being worked on was first built in the 1970s. It got a big renovation around 10 years ago to make it better. Now the workers are fixing the bridge to keep it safe and strong by dealing with loose concrete and avoiding any dangers.
