Roeselare (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Roeselare launches a well-being app for Welfare House clients. Bart Wenes (CD&V) leads the project, offering online appointments and document submission; full access is expected by June 2026.
As VRT News reported, Roeselare is launching a new well-being app to make social services easier to access. Bart Wenes (CD&V), chairman of the Special Committee for Social Services, said the app allows citizens to book appointments and submit documents like payslips or certificates online.
“It’s important that all of this happens in a secure digital environment. Apps like Messenger and WhatsApp can’t guarantee that security. With our well-being app, which is a module of our Roselare app, we can guarantee it,”
says Wenes.
How will Roeselare’s new well-being app transform Welfare House services by 2026?
All clients of the Welfare House will receive a personal invitation to use the app. Staff members will help residents install it and explain how to use all the features step by step. By June 2026, all Welfare House clients should have had the chance to use the app. Authorities say the platform will save time and make services more efficient. They also stress that personal support will still be available.
Roeselare is adjusting its social services to meet the increase in demand for these services. The Welfare House provides services for families, seniors, and residents requiring assistance. Since 2015, increasing numbers of individuals have accessed the services of the Welfare House.
In 2020, the city provided residents with the opportunity to schedule social service appointments and submit necessary documents online for some services. Officials stated that the app is similar to the initiatives that were undertaken in Ghent and Bruges in 2022 and 2023, which were initiated to facilitate quicker access to social services for residents.
