Reckless driver caught: Drug busts involve two men in Mechelen

Mechelen(The Brussels Morning Newspaper): A 27-year-old man with a history of drug offenses was arrested for driving under the influence, possessing drugs and a firearm. A 44-year-old man admitted to buying cocaine after being caught lying about interacting with the 27-year-old.

The police in Mechelen noticed a driver driving in a fast and reckless way on the Tangent road on Wednesday afternoon. Because of how the driver was acting the police decided to follow the car to check things out. They wanted to make sure the roads were safe and see if the driver was breaking any traffic rules. It has been said that usually when the police do this it’s to stop accidents from happening and make sure everyone follows the traffic laws.

What happened when police stopped a reckless driver with a history of drug offenses?

 The police in Heiken Sint-Katelijne-Waver saw a driver park their car next to another one briefly. The driver speed off even driving on the sidewalk. After that they parked the car again not far away. Elke Waters from the Rivierenland police zone said that because of these actions the inspectors decided to talk to the driver. They wanted to understand why the driver was acting so strangely and make sure they were following the traffic rules.

The police stopped a 27-year-old man in Sint-Katelijne-Waver. He’s been in trouble with the police before for having and selling drugs. When they checked him they found out he didn’t have his ID and he wasn’t allowed to drive for life. He had a lot of cannabis with him. The man tested positive for drugs.He was high while driving. Because he was driving fast even on the sidewalk didn’t have ID and was breaking his driving ban he got into big legal trouble.

What evidence did police find in the drug-related arrest of two men?

The police searched the man’s house and found a bunch of stuff. Half a kilo of cannabis a gun with bullets, a phone and 7,800 euros in cash. Elke Waters from the Rivierenland police zone confirmed all this. The man was taken to a judge for questioning. Later he got arrested because of the bad stuff they found at his place like drugs and a gun. His past crimes and legal problems made the situation even worse. A 44-year-old ma, initially claiming he had no interaction with a 27-year-old man during a police check was caught lying when camera footage showed he had stopped and interacted with him. When he caught with this evidence he admitted to buying four packages of cocaine.
