Qatargate: As compared to the actual amount paid, the amount found in Brussels is ridiculous

Brussels, Belgium. 25th June 2018. Member of the EU Parliament in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists Eva Kaili gives a keynote speech during an event about Financial regulation in EU

Belgium, (Brussels Morning Newspaper) In this vast corruption case, Eva Kaili’s arrest warrant mentions several million euros.

The revelations concerning the affair of corruption in the European Parliament by Morocco and Qatar still do not stop. Politico got their hands on the arrest warrant issued to Eva Kaili.

We thus discover that during the search carried out on December 9, 2022, during which the federal police had discovered 1.5 million euros in cash in Brussels, 600,000 euros were found at the home of the former Italian MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri. 150,000 euros were also discovered in the apartment of the former vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, while her father had 750,000 euros in a suitcase.

Nevertheless, this sum, already impressive, would in reality only be derisory in comparison to the real jackpot that Morocco and Qatar would have paid. As Politico explains, after consulting Eva Kaili’s arrest warrant, we would be talking about several million euros in payments. In fact, the document describes “considerable sums of money paid secretly, in cash by Morocco and Qatar”.

It would seem in all likelihood that the Minister of Labor is the controller of Mr. Panzeri’s activities, the intermediary who would have allowed all this corruption to take place. The media specializing in this affair, therefore, describes Brussels as the heart of a large network headed by the Minister of Labor of Qatar, Ali Bin Samikh Al Marri.

Where is all this money now?

This is the question that remains, and the investigation continues. Remember that in Belgium, the MEP Marc Tarabella suspected in this case, who continues to deny having received any money, is still detained in Saint-Gilles.
