Leuven (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A surprise performance by Pommelien Thijs at Leuven station drew a large crowd on Oct 22, 2025, during DI Sander’s week-long radio show at Martelarenplein. De Lijn buses were briefly detoured, but the event ran smoothly.

As VRT News reported, a surprise performance by Belgian singer Pommelien Thijs drew a large crowd to the square in front of Leuven train station this afternoon, Oct 22, 2025. By 4 p.m., the area was full of people. Parents with children, teenagers, and university students all came to watch.

What drew a large crowd to Pommelien Thijs’s surprise Leuven show?

“We really didn’t expect so many people. Even though the street was closed,”

said Gitte and Michele, who came to see the singer. Margot, a university student who recently bought Pommelien’s record, said the concert was

“more fun than being in class, and it’s free.”

Some students admitted they were willing to miss part of their classes for the performance. Kyara said,

“I should actually be in class right now, but I told my teacher I would be half an hour late. I’ll probably say, ‘Oops, I forgot it was class.’”

Pommelien Thijs is a Belgian entertainer (singer and actress) who first gained the spotlight in 2020 through her performance in the popular series #LikeMe and her early music. In 2025, she began her “Meer Entertainment Tour,” which directed her to cities in Belgium and the Netherlands. She also had appearances at festivals such as Pukkelpop Festival, located in Hasselt from August 14–17, 2025, and a special show at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, on September 28, 2025.
