Otegem (Brussels Morning Newspaper): On New Year’s Eve, Yvette Delanghe and Walter Clement’s home in Otegem was damaged by a car crash, but no one was injured.

On New Year’s Eve at about 10:30 PM, Yvette Delanghe and Walter Clement were enjoying a quiet night at home in Otegem when they heard a loud bang. The noise was so loud. They quickly found out that a car had crashed into their front yard after hitting their mailbox at high speed. The car lost control and hit their elderly neighbour’s garage, pushing her parked car out of its spot.

What caused the Otegem crash on New Year’s Eve?

The crash caused a lot of damage to the neighbour’s car and Yvette and Walter’s garage. The neighbour’s car hit into the garage wall, leaving it badly damaged. Yvette and Walter were shocked as they watched the scene outside their home. No one was injured, but the damage to their garage was serious. Now, both the couple and their neighbour have to face the aftermath of the high-speed crash that disrupted their New Year’s Eve.

The police and fire department came quickly. Tom Dekeyser from the fire department said they made sure everything was safe. A 92-year-old woman in the house was shocked and went to the hospital for a check-up. Yvette mentioned that the damage was serious, but no one was injured, and help would come in the next few days.
