Ostend (The Brussels morning Newspaper): Drones are transforming industries like agriculture, construction and emergency services by improving efficiency and safety. With Al advancements they are becoming smarter leading to greater civilian and military applications.

Veerle De Mey who leads the biotechnology and technology group at VIVES University talks about how important drones have become in today’s world. Drones are vehicles that can fly, float or drive without a person inside them. Recently their use has grown a lot in different areas. While many people think of drones as mainly being used in the military they are also being used more and more for civilian purposes. In the military drones are used for tasks like watching areas, gathering information and even carrying out attacks which helps keep soldiers safe. But now drones are also being used more in everyday life. For example in farming they help check the health of crops and spray them. In construction and maintenance they are used to look at the condition of bridges and power lines. Drones also play a big role in emergency services helping with search and rescue operations and responding to disasters.

How is drone technology transforming industries in Ostend?

Veerle De Mey points out how drone technology is changing our world. As drones become a bigger part of our everyday lives they will probably keep having a greater impact. This will change how different industries work and how we deal with challenges in both military and civilian areas. Veerle De Mey points out how drone technology is changing our world. It has been said that drones are becoming really important in various industries even if we don’t always notice them in our daily lives. These unmanned vehicles are increasingly used because they can perform tasks faster and safer than traditional methods. In fields like farming, construction, and building maintenance, drones are changing the way work is done by reaching difficult areas covering large spaces quickly and ensuring worker safety. Their ability to handle complex tasks accurately makes them essential when speed, safety, and precision are needed. With advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) drones are becoming even smarter allowing them to operate more independently and make better decisions like detecting heat signals in search and rescue missions or finding optimal delivery routes. As AI continues to advance drones will play an even larger role in our everyday lives taking on more complicated tasks.

Drones are being used in many ways like delivering packages quickly in cities or reaching remote areas after disasters. They are also helpful in farming where they can monitor crops and apply fertilizers accurately. For students graduating in three years there will be great job opportunities because their skills will be in high demand. This is why a new Bachelor’s degree in drone project management is starting in Ostend where they have been working with flying drones and are now adding knowledge about underwater drones too.
