A Saturday schedule was in place, but it often left residents without enough access to police services. To address this issue, the police have made changes to their hours. Starting January 6, the station will be open every day, including weekends and public holidays, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., making it easier for everyone to get help when they need it.

For those who prefer to know exactly when they can visit, appointments can still be made in advance. D’haeseleer wants to make the police station open longer. He talked about this during his swearing-in in December. He plans to work with the police chief to keep it open more in the evenings and on weekends. Starting in January, there will also be night shifts on weekends, if there are enough officers available. He mentioned that they could use the station’s cells for arrests instead of taking people to Aalst. The city council hopes to make these changes permanent.
