Niel (Brussels Newspaper) – Chiro Hiro, a youth group in Niel, needs €100,000 by July 1st, 2025, to finish their new building due to rising costs. 150 people are helping. Kris Boen is the spokesperson.

The Chiro youth group Chiro Hiro in Niel, province of Antwerp, Belgium,  shared a message on social media this week. They said they might have to close unless they can get 100,000 euros by July 1st, 2025.  They are building a new building, but they don’t have enough money to finish it.

A spokesperson for the group, Kris Boen, said the costs for the new building are much higher than they thought they would be. The building costs have gone up by 25% because of things they didn’t plan for. The new building was supposed to be a good place for kids to go, but now they might not be able to finish it.

Will Chiro Hiro in Niel raise €100,000 to save their youth group?

According to the officials, Chiro Hiro is in a tough spot because of things happening around the world. The pandemic and the war in Ukraine made things more expensive.  It’s harder to get building materials, and they cost more now.

They mentioned that the war also made things like fuel and labor more expensive. They are asking people in the community, other groups, and businesses to help them raise the money. If they don’t get the money, they might have to close for good. They have been helping kids in the community for a long time, and they don’t want to have to close.

Chiro Hiro is still hoping to save their youth group.  A lot of people have stepped up to help.  150 people have already said they will help.  They are working together in different groups to help. Some people are helping with getting the word out, others are raising money, and some are even helping to build the new building.

Chiro Hiro has been helping kids in Niel for a long time, over 75 years. It’s one of the only places in town where both boys and girls can join a youth group. Officials mentioned that, but Chiro Hiro isn’t the only group having problems.  Another group, Scouts Hellegat, is worried about new rules the town is thinking about making.

They mentioned that these rules could make it hard for them to stay open.  They are worried about how the town will help youth groups in the future.  Both groups are working hard to keep doing what they do. They are asking people in the town to help them.
