Merksem (Brussels Morning Newspaper) -Local and federal police investigated a building materials business in Merksem, then closed it down during an examination of money laundering activities. The Oostkaai based construction company generates revenues of millions.

The local and federal police sealed a wholesale building materials business in Merksem Antwerp as they investigated alleged money laundering activities. The company generates millions in turnover at its Oostkaai location, while police suspect its financial investments fund illegal operations. The ongoing investigation continues without any apprehensions made during this time.

The construction company has existed at the location in Merksem since 2011 and has since grown into a company that generates a turnover of millions,”

The public prosecutor’s office reports.

“It has, among other things, a loading dock to transport goods over water.”

“After the findings, the construction company was placed under judicial seal. The money laundering investigation is now in full swing.”

What is the history of the case?

The operational sealed company, which started in 2011, has developed into a major force in the building materials sector based on its multi-million-dollar yearly revenue. The Oostkaai district houses a loading dock that allows water-based transportation because of the scale of the business operations. The business has encountered legal challenges before since officials sealed it down in 2020 because of violations regarding COVID-19 rules.
