Mechelen gate bike thief caught escapes again on electric Scooter

Mechelen (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): A man was caught dragging a locked bike in Mechelen and later seen fleeing on a scooter. Another suspect was arrested for a stolen scooter which was returned to its owner.

On Tuesday morning someone near Brussels Gate in Mechelen saw a man acting suspiciously. He was pulling a lady’s bike that seemed to be stolen since it was still locked. The person got worried and told the police. The police acted fast and caught the suspect at Koningin Astridlaan. Because the person reported it quickly and the police acted swiftly they caught the suspect.

Was a suspicious man at Brussels gate in Mechelen caught stealing a bike?

The passer-by at Brussels Gate in Mechelen saw a man dragging a lady’s locked bike thinking it might be stolen. They told the police who caught the 29-year-old suspect at Koningin Astridlaan. Since the man didn’t have a key for the bike he was arrested for questioning. Later a lady said her bike was stolen and the description she gave matched the one the suspect had. The police returned the stolen bike to her. The suspect who the police knew from before for similar things, was let go after explaining himself.

Did the bike thief at Brussels gate escape justice again?

The guy who got caught for stealing a lady’s locked bike at Brussels Gate in Mechelen had done similar things before. A person saw him acting suspiciously and told the cops who caught him at Koningin Astridlaan. Since he didn’t have a key for the bike,they arrested him for questioning. Another lady said her bike was stolen and it matched the one the guy had. The police gave her bike back. Even though he had a history they let him go after he explained. Just 45 minutes after leaving the police station the same guy was seen by the cops in Keizerstraat this time riding an electric scooter. When he saw the police he tried to run away quickly. He sped off on the scooter,but lost control and fell in his hurry. He then left the scooter and ran on foot managing to escape once again.

After they got him a judge looked at the case. The judge decided to keep the guy in jail until they figure out what to do next. The police found a stolen scooter they think the guy had taken. They figured out who the real owner was and gave the scooter back to them. This helped the investigation and made the owner happy to get their scooter back.
