Mechelen (Brussels Morning Newspaper): On 17th October, police arrested a 25-year-old Albanian man after stopping his car on the B101 road toward Mechelen-Noord. He was found with over 13 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately €600,000. His erratic driving raised concerns about traffic safety.

On 17th October around 5:30 PM, police noticed a driver acting strangely on the B101 road toward Mechelen-Noord. The driver was making unusual movements that didn’t seem normal. The police saw that the person was using GPS a lot, which caused them to make sudden turns and change lanes quickly. This strange driving confused other drivers on the road.

Why did police arrest a 25-year-old Albanian with 13kg cocaine in Mechelen?

Police spokesman Dirk Van de Sande said the driver’s actions were worrying because they disrupted traffic. The driver’s unusual behavior suggested they didn’t know the area well or were too dependent on GPS. The police quickly recognized the problem, which helped prevent accidents or more issues from the driver’s strange driving.

The police followed a driver, who bought eight sports bags at a store in Mechelen before heading to Ixelles. The man placed a sports bag in the vehicle and left. The police stopped the car at a red light and found over 13 kilograms of cocaine inside the bag. The driver, a 25-year-old Albanian man, was arrested, and both the drugs and the car were seized. He was brought before a judge and is now in prison.
