Londerzeel (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Londerzeel is tackling illegal trash dumping with fines up to 500 euros, cleanup costs of 750-2000 euros, and new hidden cameras. Mayor Nadia Sminate supports strict enforcement, with 6 caught recently.

According to the officials, the person who dumped the trash near the recycling centre in Londerzeel, province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium, has to pay more than just the 500 euro fine. They also have to pay for the cost of cleaning up the mess they made.

The town estimates that it will cost between 750 euros and 2000 euros to clean up all the trash. Londerzeel is serious about stopping people from dumping trash illegally. They want to make sure that people understand that it’s expensive and not worth it to break the rules.

How is Londerzeel combating illegal trash dumping with cameras and fines?

The municipality of Londerzeel is receiving new cameras to assist it in catching individuals who illegally dump trash. They said the new cameras are smaller and less conspicuous than previous models and can be discreetly situated where individuals are more likely to dump trash without detection.

The mayor of Londerzeel, Nadia Sminate, is doing everything in her power to prevent individuals from dumping rubbish illegally. She would like the town to be clean and have people punished for not abiding by the law.

Numerous towns in Flanders are following rules by increasing the cost of dumping rubbish illegally. This is due to them wishing to ensure that everyone has a clean and safe environment to live in.

There have been more people dumping trash illegally in Londerzeel. The police caught 6 people doing it in the past 3 months. At the end of February, someone dumped a lot of stuff, like furniture and toys, near the recycling centre. This happened just a few kilometres away from the recycling centre.

The police, waste people, and neighbourhood watch worked together to find out who did it. They used cameras and clues from the trash to figure it out. The person had to pay 500 euros because they dumped the trash illegally.
