Lokeren (Brussels Morning Newspaper): A speeding driver crashed near the E17 exit, hitting a curb, traffic light, and lamppost. The car rolled over, and the driver died at the scene. Emergency services closed the N47 for safety and are investigating the accident.

An accident occurred near the E17 exit when a driver sped and crashed into a concrete curb. This impact caused the driver to lose control, and then the car hit a traffic light and a lamppost, which made things worse. The car ended up badly damaged and unstable. The car rolled over and landed on its roof in the grass near the exit. The driver lost their life at the scene due to the serious crashes. Emergency services arrived quickly, but they were unable to save the driver. They mentioned that this accident reminds everyone of the dangers of speeding and how losing control can have devastating results.

What factors contributed to the fatal E17 exit accident and investigation?

The driver’s name hasn’t been shared yet, witnesses said he was the only one in the vehicle. The police and fire department acted fast, closing the N47 towards Lokeren and the Lokeren exit from Ghent to keep the area safe and protect the emergency responders.
A traffic expert has been brought in to analyze the cause of the crash. The expert will look at the condition of the road, the state of the car, and other things that might have caused the accident. A lot of traffic delays occurred due to the road closures because cars were redirected while the investigation was ongoing. More details will be available once the expert completes their work.
