Leuven (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): Alma student restaurants in Leuven have reduced the price of spaghetti bolognese to €5.65, down by €1.50 over two years, responding to student needs amid rising living costs. Spokesperson Pittomvils emphasized support for students during economic challenges.

In Leuven, the student restaurants run by Alma are lowering the price of a popular dish, spaghetti bolognese, to help with the rising cost of living. This change was made after talking with the student association LOKO and aims to make meals more affordable, especially since students prefer dishes that cost less than €6. Alma’s spokesperson, Pittomvils, said this price change is based on what students want, showing that they care about meeting their needs.

Why did Alma lower spaghetti bolognese prices to €5.65 in Leuven?

Spaghetti bolognese was chosen to have a lower price because students like it. By keeping this popular dish affordable, Alma wants to give students filling and tasty meal options with quality. They mentioned that this move helps with money issues and builds a sense of community and support among students during tough economic times.

The price of spaghetti bolognese at Alma is now €5.65, which is great for students because it’s under €6. Over the last two years, this price has dropped by about €1.50, and students like it. Many say it’s their favorite meal, with one student saying they’ve eaten it five times in just two weeks. Another student mentioned how nice it is to have a warm meal in the afternoon, so they don’t have to cook at home. This lower price helps students enjoy good meals without the need to cook for themselves.

The price of spaghetti bolognese at Alma has decreased, while another menu item’s price increase at student restaurants. Pittomvils said this is mainly because food costs are rising, with an average increase of about 3% this year. Even though most prices are up, students are happy about the cheaper spaghetti bolognese. Katja mentioned that it’s great to have at least one affordable meal option. This mix of higher prices for most dishes and a lower price for spaghetti bolognese shows that Alma is trying to help students with their budgets while managing rising ingredient costs, making the dining experience better for everyone.
