Leuven (Brussels Morning newspaper): On 23 November around 5:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a house fire, evacuating a couple and their children safely. A 68-year-old man inhaled smoke and was hospitalized. The affected family is temporarily displaced, and damage to nearby homes was minor.

On 23 November around 5:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a house fire in a row of homes. When they arrived, the house was surrounded by flames and thick smoke filled the street. The fire department safely evacuated a couple and their two young children, and no one was injured. Firefighters checked the house to ensure no one else was inside and then took the family to a safe location.

How did a strong fire in Leuven impact residents and evacuate a family?

The fire was strong and could have spread to nearby homes, so the fire department evacuated residents as a safety precaution. Firefighters worked hard to control the flames using multiple hoses, and their quick actions helped prevent injuries. After the fire was under control, authorities closed the area to assess the damage, investigate the cause, and check the safety of the affected homes and nearby buildings.

Firefighters broke into two nearby houses during a fire. One was empty, but they found a 68-year-old man asleep in the other. He inhaled smoke and was taken to the hospital. About 20 residents and the affected family went to a nearby restaurant for shelter. The house where the fire started is unlivable, and the family’s insurance is finding them a temporary place. Damage to other houses was minor, and residents returned home around 7 a.m.
