Leuven (Brussels Morning Newspaper): The Leuven Christmas Market in Belgium is open from December 7 to December 22, at Ladeuzeplein and Hooverplein. It has 140 stalls with handmade gifts, food, and drinks and attracts about 600,000 visitors each year. This year, new attractions include a Christmas tower and a Ferris wheel.

The Leuven Christmas Market is a popular annual event that attracts many visitors. In 2023, it welcomed 600,000 people over two weeks. Located around Ladeuzeplein and Hooverplein in the city center, the market has a good atmosphere with festive lights, music, and wooden stalls. Visitors can shop for handmade gifts, enjoy seasonal treats like glĂĽhwein and Belgian waffles, and participate in live performances.

How does the Leuven Christmas Market compare to Brussels?

A visitor compared the Leuven Christmas Market to the one in Brussels, saying that Leuven is better because everything is close together. They explained, “In Brussels, the Christmas market is spread out all over the city, which makes it feel less festive. Everything happens in Ladeuzeplein and Hooverplein, which are near each other. It feels like a Christmas village.” This setup allows people to enjoy the holiday spirit and feel safe.

The Leuven Christmas Market features new attractions this year, including a Christmas tower and a Ferris wheel. The Christmas tower was anticipated, and many visitors came to see it during its construction. Many stalls are offering Christmas gifts, food, and drinks. The market will be open until Sunday, December 22.
