What attracts visitors to the Leuven Christmas Market?

The Leuven Christmas market is becoming one of Belgium‘s most loved holiday events. It is famous for its festive atmosphere, multiple stalls, and attracting locals and others from the surrounding areas. This year, it seems it’s getting more popular year after year, so an important part of any holiday season. It has been said that if the expected record attendance is confirmed, it will show just how much people enjoy the market and how important it is for bringing the community together during this festive time.

This year, the Leuven Christmas market attracted a lot of visitors from other countries. Pinte mentioned hearing Dutch, French, Swedish, and even English from American families who came just to enjoy the market. Ladeuzeplein and Hooverplein were filled with food and drink stalls, shops, and fun things like a Ferris wheel. Santa’s house was there too. A new feature was a tall Christmas tower, almost 20 meters high, with tables on the first floor. Pinte said many people liked taking pictures with the tower and the university library behind it.
