Moscow (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Kremlin stated on Monday that it possesses its own resources to meet all battlefield requirements, in response to a Ukrainian claim that China is supplying intelligence to help Moscow improve its missile strike capabilities against Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to a question about the issue after Oleh Aleksandrov, a Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Agency official, stated that China was relaying satellite intelligence on targets, including those involved in foreign investments.
“We have our own capabilities, including space capabilities, to accomplish all the tasks the special military operation poses,”
Peskov told reporters.
What intelligence evidence did Ukraine claim to possess?
Oleh Aleksandrov, an official with Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Agency, said that China was sharing satellite intelligence on targets, including those receiving foreign investment.
“There is evidence of a high level of cooperation between Russia and China in conducting satellite reconnaissance of the territory of Ukraine in order to identify and further explore strategic objects for targeting,”
Aleksandrov said.
“As we have seen in recent months, these sites may belong to foreign investors.”
How has China allegedly aided Moscow’s military operations?
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and regional officials reported that a Russian missile attack in August hit a U.S.-owned appliance plant n the western Zakarpattia region, resulting in injuries to 15 people.
In April, Zelenskiy stated that China was providing weapons and gunpowder to Russia. He also claimed that his government possessed intelligence indicating China was manufacturing weapons within Russian territory.
How is the US planning to assist Ukraine’s strikes?
On the other hand, the US is reportedly agreeing to supply Ukraine with intelligence to facilitate long-range strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure, and is contemplating providing Tomahawk missiles. Ukrainian president mentioned on Thursday that it could be “maybe something more.”
US officials reportedly stated that the intelligence will enable Ukraine to target “refineries, pipelines, power stations, and other infrastructure far beyond its borders,” with Washington encouraging NATO allies to do the same and increase similar cooperation.
The intelligence provided by the US, such as satellite images and monitoring data, could greatly enhance the precision of Ukraine’s strikes within Russia.
