Lommel (Brussels Morning Newspaper): The ‘Kicks and Bricks’ event in Lommel has 5,000 square meters of LEGO fun. Rob Vangansewinkel’s “minifigure price machine” will be shown, and LEGO will make a set.

The ‘Kicks and Bricks’ event will take place this weekend in Lommel at Soverein, organized by the Overpelt LEGO Builders Club (OLBC). The event covers 5,000 square meters and features various building tables, LEGO games, and impressive displays. This year, attendees can see large models from themes like Vikings, knights, and Star Wars, along with Indiana Jones models. The event aims to provide a fun experience for LEGO enthusiasts of all ages.

What is Rob Vangansewinkel’s minifigure prize machine?

At the ‘Kicks and Bricks’ event, attendees will see a machine called the “minifigure price machine,” created by Rob Vangansewinkel from Oudsbergen. This machine works like a gum machine but gives out LEGO minifigures instead of candy. It will be displayed at the fair this weekend. LEGO has also announced that they will make a real construction set based on this machine, which will be available in toy stores soon.

According to Rob Vangansewinkel, people can share their ideas on LEGO IDEAS, and if an idea gets 10,000 supporters, LEGO might make it into a real set. He is happy that his idea was chosen, which is rare because only about 60 people have done this. Rob will get ten copies of his set and one percent of the sales. He doesn’t know how many sets LEGO will make available around the world since the company keeps that information secret. He joked that he would find out more when the set comes out.
