Kazerne Dossin upgrades in Mechelen: Eco-friendly renovations and memorial access

Mechelen (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): The Kazerne Dossin museum and research center will be closed until August 18 for renovations including installing energy-efficient LED lights. The Memorial remains open to honor and remember history during this time.

The museum and research center at Kazerne Dossin which focuses on the Holocaust and human rights will be closed until August 18 for a big upgrade. They’re switching the old lights to new LED lights during this time. The director Tomas Baum said they are doing this to make the center more environmentally friendly. Switching to LED lights is great because they use less energy which saves money. LEDs last longer and don’t produce as much heat as traditional lights making them more eco-friendly and cost-effective. The center’s dedication to being environmentally responsible and updating its facilities in a sustainable way.

What renovations are happening at Kazerne Dossin and how will they impact visitor access to the museum and memorial?

While they’re renovating the museum and research center at Kazerne Dossin, they’re making big changes like taking out the glass ceilings. Because of all these changes the center won’t be open for visitors during this time. As part of the renovation they’re putting in new special lights to make certain objects look better. These fancy lights will make the exhibits clearer and show off important parts more.It has been said that this improved lighting will make future exhibitions more valuable making sure that the artifacts and displays look their best and making the visitor experience even better.

The Memorial at Kazerne Dossin will stay open to the public even during the renovation. Director Tomas Baum said it’s vital to keep the Memorial accessible in the summer so the center can continue to honor and remember. While they’re making big changes to the museum like adding new lights and taking out glass ceilings the Memorial will stay open as usual. Visitors can still come to honor and learn about the history there even while other parts of the center are getting updated. According to sources keeping the Memorial open shows how important it is for the center to keep its role as a place for people to remember and reflect.
