West Bank (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Israeli police stated that during a Tuesday raid in the vicinity of the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, Israeli security officials shot three Palestinians, who were labelled by security officials as “members of a terrorist cell.”

According to the Israeli police and military, the police’s elite unit designed to counter terrorism began the raid by shooting the militants, who were running away as they were preparing attacks in the Jenin refugee camp area, and then they were attacked by an air attack.

How did Israeli forces identify the alleged terrorist cell?

“During an offensive operation conducted by Yamam forces in the Kfar Qud area of the Menashe sector, the fighters acted to neutralise a terrorist cell that was planning an attack and was part of a terrorist organisation active in the Jenin refugee camp,” the Israeli police said in a statement.

“The forces spotted members of the cell emerging from a cave. The unit’s snipers then opened precise fire, killing the three terrorists,”

they also said.

What measures has Defence Minister Israel Katz announced?

Defence Minister Israel Katz lauded the operation, cautioning that “any attempt by terrorist organisations to rebuild their infrastructure in Judea and Samaria will be crushed with an iron fist”.

“I have ordered the IDF (army) to take all necessary measures, on the ground and from the air, to eliminate terrorist threats in Judea and Samaria and the terrorists themselves,”

he also said, employing the Israeli biblical phrase for the West Bank.

How is the current ceasefire holding across Gaza and Israel?

Meanwhile, Hamas has transferred the remains of an additional dead captive as the Palestinian group faces mounting pressure from Israel to recover and return the 12 other bodies, Al Jazeera reported

On the other hand, despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, an Israeli drone strike near the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis has killed at least two people, according to Nasser Hospital, and Palestinians continue to face difficulties in finding basic necessities, as Israel continues to suffocate the amount of aid allowed into the Strip.

Palestinians in Gaza are burying dozens of bodies that Israel returned in exchange for the remains of Israeli captives. Many are unrecognisable and depict signs of suffering and mutilation.
