Incident at Leuven daycare: Baby’s sudden passing

Leuven (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): A 4-month-old baby boy suddenly stopped breathing at a Leuven daycare center. Despite emergency efforts, he passed away. Authorities are investigating to determine the cause and ensure proper safety protocols were followed.

On 30July at morning something happened at a daycare center in Leuven. Around 10:20 am the daycare called for help because a 4-month-old baby boy had stopped breathing. The staff found the baby in a very serious state and called for emergency help right away. When the paramedics came they tried to save the baby but they couldn’t. The authorities are now looking into what happened to understand why the baby passed away suddenly and to check if all safety rules were followed. This investigation is to help the family and the community know what happened during this tough time.

What caused the Sudden infant death at the Leuven daycare center?

The baby was quickly taken to the hospital in Leuven after the daycare called for help. Even though the hospital staff tried hard they couldn’t bring the baby back. Ellen Durie from the prosecutor’s office in Leuven said they couldn’t save the baby. After the incident a special doctor went to the daycare to check everything. They also did a detailed check (autopsy) to find out exactly why the baby passed away suddenly. The authorities are looking into what happened by checking medical records safety rules at the daycare and other important things to understand why the baby passed away.

They don’t think anyone did something wrong on purpose. The investigation is all about finding out exactly what happened to help understand and make sure the right rules were followed. The prosecutor’s office is working hard to help the family and deal with any worries after this sad event.
