Ostend (Brussels Morning Newspaper): A hybrid car caught fire at AZ Damian Hospital in Ostend on Saturday evening, destroying the vehicle. No injuries were reported, and investigators are examining potential battery-related causes.

On Saturday evening 9th of November, a hybrid car parked at AZ Damiaan Hospital in Ostend caught fire and was completely destroyed. The flames spread quickly, leaving the car burned out. Thick smoke came from the vehicle, which caught the attention of some passers-by who alerted emergency services. When firefighters arrived, the car was destroyed.

What caused the hybrid car fire at AZ Damian Hospital in Ostend?

The parking area was empty when the fire occurred, so there were no people nearby, and no injuries were reported. However, several bushes near the car also caught fire, causing more damage. Firefighters quickly controlled the flames, preventing them from spreading further in the parking lot.

Authorities think the fire was probably an accident, but they don’t know the exact cause yet. Since it was a hybrid car, they are looking into whether a problem with the battery or electrical parts might have started the fire. Investigators will check everything carefully to see if it was due to mechanical failure, overheating, or something else.
