The vice-president of the European Parliament Eva Kaili (44 years old) is the protagonist of a huge scandal since the beginning of December.

Belgium, (Brussels Morning Newspaper) The “suitcases with money” were described by Eva Kaili. How was the Qatari bribe received, and in what capacity did his father play a role?

Eva Kaili gave details about the “suitcases with money”. What was his father’s role and what was the money trail? The Greek socialist MEP was arrested on the evening of December 9, in Brussels, as part of an investigation into suspected corruption involving Qatar, the host of the 2022 World Cup.

A judge handling the case received details from Eva Kaili. She told his father “how to hide a large part of the money” that was at her home, according to the publication Le Soir.

During the investigation, Eva Kaila’s father was caught in a hotel in the center of the European Quarter in Brussels with a suitcase full of money. At that point, the law enforcement officers decided to act.

In this case, 1.5 million euros were discovered, money located in two houses and in a suitcase. In Eva Kaili’s house, the police found 600,000 euros in cash in bags and another 150,000 euros hidden under the crib of her 10-month-old child, reports Hellas Posts.

In addition, Eva admitted that she “was aware” of the activity of her husband, the Italian Francesco Giorgi, who was also arrested, and that “suitcases of money passed through the apartment” of Pier Antonio Panzari, a former MEP considered the mastermind of the whole scandal.

The mentioned publication claims that Panzeri told the judges that those “gifts” from Qatar were intended for the Belgian Social Democrat MEP Marc Tarabella. He too is now being investigated in this case.

However, he denied this information several times. Meanwhile, after his initial arrest, he was released on parole and must wear a permanent monitoring bracelet.

The network was discovered by the authorities

Meanwhile, the publication La Reppublica says that Eva Kaili’s husband confessed to the judges that he was part of a network used in Morocco and Qatar to influence the decisions of the European Parliament.

Other names appear in this thread. Eva Kaili’s husband, Francesco Giorgi, mentioned one more person, the Italian Social Democrat MEP Andrea Cozzolino. Giorgi worked for him.

At the last minute, when her husband Francesco Giorgi was arrested, Eva tried to contact Panzeri and two other unnamed MEPs to warn them.

After the arrest on December 9, Eva Kaili was officially charged on December 11 with. The suspicion hanging over him is that of receiving bribes from the organizing country of the 2022 World Cup, Qatar.

A new hearing for Eva Kaili was scheduled for December 14, but due to the strike, it was rescheduled for December 22, when Eva will have to appear before a correctional court, as it is called in Belgium. Then it will be decided whether she will remain in custody. But she risks a big punishment.
