When she picked up the cat, she received a Turkish passport but later learned from her vet that the cat needed a European passport and vaccinations. The vet warned her that the cat might have to be euthanized and threatened to report her to the authorities, leaving Wendy in tears and panicking about the situation.

The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) expressed regret over the situation with Myno, the kitten, but stated that they carefully assessed the case. They explained that when an animal isn’t vaccinated against rabies, options include strict home quarantine, returning the animal to its country, or euthanasia as a last resort. Myno couldn’t be quarantined due to the high risk of rabies from Turkey. Wendy, Myno’s owner, is relieved he can live, and the FASFC urges people to follow import rules to prevent rabies risks.
