Hasselt heist: Blue raincoat bandit steals coffee shop tip jar

Hasselt (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): A lady in a blue raincoat stole a tip jar containing around 200 euros from a San Francisco coffee shop after acting suspiciously near the cash register. The shop posted a video online seeking public help to identify the thief and recover the stolen money.

A lady wearing a blue raincoat walked into the coffee shop. It was raining outside because her raincoat was wet. When she walked in the lady asked the manager Renee to see the menu.

Who is the lady in the blue raincoat stealing tips?

It has been said that the lady was really excited and friendly when she came in. She checked out the menu and couldn’t decide what to order so waiter gave her some time. Later she asked if she could order takeaway after going to the restroom to take off her raincoat. He got busy clearing tables and didn’t notice anything wrong. When he returned he saw that the tip jar was missing. Later on the camera she looked nervous near the cash register covered the tip jar with her poncho and left.

The coffee shop posted a video on social media showing a lady in a blue raincoat who they think might be involved in the theft. The manager,Renee Jansen said the stolen tip jar had around 200 euros inside. The team is really upset because that money was from the tips customers gave them. Renee Jansen said none of the staff saw the theft happen. They’re asking the community for help to get back the stolen money. The store hopes that with the video and public help they can find the money and get back the tip jar they need for their daily work.

The coffee shop told the police about the theft and posted a video on social media but they haven’t gotten any leads yet. Mason Dix from the shop is asking people to contact them on social media if they know anything. They’re counting on the community to help catch the thief and get back the tip jar with around 200 euros inside.
