Bayern Bosses Confident Harry Kane Will Sign New Contract in Munich

Munich, Germany, 20 August (Brussles Morning Newspaper) Bayern Munich are increasingly confident they can secure a new Harry Kane contract, with sporting chief Max Eberl striking an upbeat tone as talks over the England captain’s future move into focus.

Kane’s existing deal expires in June 2027, leaving Bayern with a major decision over their prolific striker. But rather than preparing for life without him, the German champions appear convinced there is a strong foundation for extending their relationship.

Eberl gives positive update on Kane talks

Eberl made Bayern’s position clear when discussing Kane’s future this week.

“I think he feels comfortable. We’re super happy that he’s with us,” Eberl said, according to comments reported by dpa. He added that the two sides now have to settle the contractual details, but described the conditions for reaching an agreement as “not so bad”.

Honorary president Uli Hoeneß has sounded similarly confident, saying he is “quite optimistic” that Kane will extend beyond 2027.

Those comments matter because Bayern are no longer simply talking about wanting to keep Kane. Their senior figures are openly signalling that they believe the striker is also comfortable with the idea of staying.

Kane says the time is right for talks

Kane has done little to cool that optimism.

After returning from his post-World Cup break, the 33-year-old confirmed that discussions over his future were due to begin. He said the plan had always been to sit down after the tournament and his holiday, acknowledging that with only a year remaining on his deal, the timing was right to start talking.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen had already said in July that “both parties are very keen” to extend the partnership, while stressing that the two sides still needed to find common ground.

No extension has been formally agreed or announced.

Premier League return appears less pressing for Kane

For years, the obvious question surrounding Kane’s move to Germany was whether he would eventually return to England and chase Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record.

That possibility now appears less pressing.

Kane told FourFourTwo that he no longer feels the same “itch” to return to the Premier League. He remains 47 goals behind Shearer’s record, but his comments suggest that milestone is not dictating his next career decision.

That is significant for Bayern. Kane’s willingness to remain abroad removes one of the clearest potential obstacles to a new Harry Kane contract.

Kane’s numbers explain Bayern’s determination

Bayern have every reason to want a quick resolution.

Since leaving Tottenham for Munich in 2023, Kane has scored 146 goals in 147 competitive appearances for Bayern. His output has made him the focal point of their attack and one of the most productive forwards in European football.

He scored 36 Bundesliga goals last season and collected his second European Golden Shoe, further underlining his importance even as he moves deeper into his thirties.

Replacing that level of production would be a major challenge, making an extension a logical priority for Bayern’s hierarchy.

What happens next for Kane and Bayern?

The immediate focus is on negotiations. Kane and Bayern have publicly confirmed their willingness to talk, but the precise length and financial terms of a possible new deal have not been announced.

Reports have suggested an extension to 2029 is under consideration, although that remains unconfirmed by the club.

For now, Kane remains contracted until June 2027. Yet the message coming from Munich is becoming increasingly difficult to miss: Bayern want their leading striker to stay, Kane appears open to doing exactly that, and confidence around a new Harry Kane contract is growing.
